Heard it Through the Grape Vine
I had the opportunity to go see a
show from the Marilyn Manson Tour the day before Easter in Fairfax, VA. That's the
tour that Courtney Love dropped out of earlier this month. She parted the tour
citing the negative attitudes of the bands as well as the audiences as reasons for her
departure. However, the show must go on, and the tour quickly added Nashville Pussy,
a southern rock band, to its roster. However unimpressed I was with their
performance, the guys in the audiences enjoyed when the two female guitarists started
making out on stage. Anything to sell records I guess...
Moving on, Monster Magnet was next in the line-up, and they put on a
great show. If you haven't caught their video on MTV, you don't know what you're
missing. On top of being a really awesome band, their lead singer looks like a more rustic
version of Dave Grohl (lead singer of the Foo-Fighters, and former Nirvana drummer).
Their site hasn't been updated in a while, but check it out by clicking here: MONSTER MAGNET
Next up was none other than Marilyn Manson. Let me just say that
that man is amazing. He started the show by being raised up in a cross, and through
the show, he sang from his podium, and got on those stilts that he's notorious for.
The background was forever changing, and he changed costumes more times than Cher from
Clueless. It was THE most entertaining show I've ever been to. The sound was
absolutely phenomenal, the show was fabulous. As I'm sure you can tell, I was very
impressed. He sang a lot of their songs from the new album, but of course he had to
throw in Sweet Dreams, the Eurhythmics track that made him famous. If you're
interested in catching a show in the Marilyn Manson tour, here are a few dates. Check 'em
out if they come to your town.
